Reminders for Sunday

April 8, 2016 at 2:41 pm 2 comments

We are looking forward to our author event on Sunday, April 10, 2016!

Since there is a large crowded expected, please remember to bring your tickets! In order to enter the auditorium, you must have either a printed version or the ability to access it digitally on your phone.

Doors for the event will open at 1 pm. Seating is first come, first seated. All ticket holders must be seated by 1:55 pm. Tickets not used by 1:55 will be forfeited. Standby seats, if available, will then be filled.

Please leave plenty of time for parking and navigating the Stony Brook campus. All campus parking lots are free of charge on Sunday.

Following her remarks, the author will sign books purchased at the event. Attendees are allowed a maximum of 1 personal copy (not purchased on Sunday) to be signed.

Appreciate you answering my tweets about the way the signing went. I had arrived for the event at 12:45, bought my books before the talk and sat in 3rd row but I wound up 2nd to last person on the signing line! Some of us from the front of the audience did as we were told by your staff and went to the back of the line but clearly most people did not. A more fair procedure would have been for the audience to form the line row by row, ushered by your staff. If I remember correctly this was how it was done a few years ago at Brentwood library for Doris Kearns Goodwin. Also, at that same event I believe they had a room with a live video feed for those who couldn’t get tickets for the main room. Had this been an option for Jodi Picoults event many of those people could have filled what looked like at least 40 empty seats. I know many people who would have liked to have been there but couldn’t get tickets. Thank you for “listening” and I still look forward to participating in future LI Reads events. Sincerely, Katherine Sarra

      Hi Katherine,
Unfortunately, the publisher denied our request to stream the event.
